Above them, God's arms are painted with golden rays, and a dove representing the Holy Spirit spreads its wings widely. A halo with a cruciform adorns Jesus' head, and St. John the Baptist also has a halo. Two angels stand on the left side of the painting, with one of them, painted by Leonardo, holding Jesus' clothes. Leonardo's use of oil, a relatively new medium at that time, can be seen in the angel he painted, adding a unique texture and depth.
