The statue is closely cropped in the face for drama and impact. This was Teddy Roosevelt's favourite statue of Lincoln, while Lincoln's son, Robert Todd, really did not like the portrayal. Donated to the city of Cincinnati by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Phelps Taft. The sculpture by George Grey Barnard (NY) first shocked Cincinnatians with its gaunt and weary features but later gained international fame. Lytle Park was founded in Cincinnati in 1907.
