Coming from a long line of talented family members, I watched, learned and spent most of my earnings on instructional books, tools and materials needed for a new genre, or my next art project. My Nana and Mom spent countless hours teaching me to read and follow instructions while demonstrating their expertise in cooking, crocheting, knitting, embroidering, sewing, and doll making. They supported my interest in other genres, as well, and before long I was painting, sculpting, carving and creating my own designs.
My favorite thing about art is the challenge associated with creating and crafting original ideas and learning new techniques that will help to accomplish those tasks. People ask what my artistic genre is ... I guess you could call my designs "Sue-real." I love 3-D realism, trompe l’oeil murals and anything that’s miniature, all of which greatly influences my creativity and style.
I completed my “non-traditional” college education at the University of Maine in Machias where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurial Business Management, a minor in Fine Arts and 3 Associate business-related degrees. My love for art and business go hand-in-hand.
My custom art can be found in private collections throughout New England; from painted slates and signs, to custom wall murals and floor cloth canvasses. My original paintings and handcrafted items can be found at 2 "brick & mortar" locations; Deja New in Leicester, MA and Rust to Ruffles in Oxford, MA. My website at http://creativehartsstudio.com is where you'll find my art store, galleries. product lines, collections and information about my Creative Events (fun art classes). I've decided to start blogging so please watch for my interesting blogs ... I'm really quite excited to tell you about the inspiration behind my latest designs, product lines and collections.
