Covent Garden Postcard

London's Covent Garden was originally a wholesale fruit and vegetable market supplying large parts of London. The market has since moved and the Covent Garden site is now a pedestrian plaza packed with boutiques, restaurants and cafes and souvenir shops. There are also some world famous buildings facing onto the plaza into the Royal Opera House home to one of Britain's greatest national opera companies, and the London Transport Museum. The atmosphere is always vibrant with street performers and artists completing the scene. This photograph looks across part of the plaza with the canopy of part of the original structure visible. The bright colours of the goods on sale in the street stalls and the summer clothing of the tourists capture the carnival-like atmosphere.
