Here is the text: "Wise Father, tell me" said the son, "why is it that we do not hunt the Cougar for our food?" "My son, would you pull down the mighty Eagle from the sky, or blind the stars that shed their light upon our Ancestors? Would you bind the Wolf so he cannot run, or steal the freedom of the wind that brings our rain?" "No, my Father", the boy replied, "But I still don't understand why the Cougar goes free while the Elk must feel the sting of an arrow." The warrior turned to his son and said solemnly, "If you ever find yourself looking into the eyes of brother Cougar, you will know the answer to your question. His is not a spirit to be tethered, nor a heart to be tamed." The look in his father's eyes was not the expression of a stern teacher, but that of a father pleading for his son to stay safe during the hunt. The boy never asked again, for he understood that Cougar walks his own way and makes his earth journey alone.
