A marvellous image by William Blake (1757-1827), inspired by a comet he witnessed in 1811. The print was found in the artist’s estate from where lots of my stuff comes from. Her copy was on very old rag paper and seemed to be hand-painted. Maybe a rendering of an early 19th century tourist souvenir? An art student’s copy? The real thing?? (KaCHING) Looks equally marvellous on all kinds of EVERYTHING, including throw blankets. By the way - something really neato = Mr. Blake painted a face on the comet. Wanna see more old?
