Combing Her Hair (Beautiful Asian Woman) (Kotondo) Postcard
This design features an original painting by Japanese artist Torii Kotondo (1900–1976), who was born in the Nihonbashi district of Tokyo. He trained in the Torii school of ukiyo-e artists. He specialized in portraits of attractive young women. Indeed, the Japanese authorities considered some of Kotondo's prints too provocative and they were banned from sale at the time. Now, of course, we can simply appreciate the underlying beauty of the art.
