In 1883, Claude Monet and his family moved outside of Paris, to Giverny, where he would paint many of the works that would define him as a pioneer of art. In 1889 Monet painted a bridge that went over the pond in his garden. Throughout 1889 and 1890, Monet painted several canvases depicting the bridge and its surroundings.
