This design features the flag of Waterbury, which is a city in the US state of Connecticut. Waterbury is situated on the Naugatuck River, around 33 miles southwest of Hartford and 77 miles northeast of New York City. Waterbury is the second largest city in New Haven County, Connecticut, after the city of New Haven, which is the home of Yale University. Waterbury is sometimes nicknamed "The Brass City", because it was the leading centre in the United States for the manufacture of brassware throughout the first half of the 20th century. The Latin motto of Waterbury, Connecticut, is "Quid Aere Perennius", which means "What is More Lasting than Brass?"
