City - Alexandria VA - Fit for a king 1921 Postcard

In its day it was the centre of trade, as the Potamic River was just at the end of this block where the trees are. The convenience near that port made it possible to transport goods. In it's day, it was one of the busiest ports around. Because this is a part of the historic district, all new buildings have to be scrutinized so it will blend with the original old buildings. Alexandria is an "Old Town" neighbourhood, it keeps a balance of the past and the present. Because of this preservation, much of this block is still intact today.
