This panoramic image catches the Cimarron River just before sunset on June 28, 2012. The ripples and other sedimentary structures visible in the sand bar were formed by elevated streamflow conditions associated with a rainfall-runoff event on June 15-16, 2012. The intense colour of the western sky may be a result of atmospheric conditions following a series of wildfires in New Mexico and Colorado. The edge of the bridge from which the photographs were taken, near Coyle, Oklahoma, is visible in the lower left corner of the panorama.
