Chief Black Hawk and His Son Postcard

Leader and warrior of the American Indian Sauk Tribe. The tribe was forcibly moved west from The Rock River Valley in Illinois south of Rockford during the 1832 Black Hawk War. There is a statue of the Chief overlooking the river just north of Oregon. The son shown is Whiling Thunder, The artist is John Wesley Jarvis and it was painted in 1833
