Cetacean Pride Poster

This painting was an exercise for me in painting in monochromatic tones by using complimentary colours to tone down the intensity of the colour and make shadows. I love cetaceans of all sorts, orcas, humpbacks and dolphins and porpoises. The humpback's are in primary colours, the orcas are the secondary colours, and there are both common dolphins, and bottlenose dolphins as well as harbour porpoises depicted for the tertiary colours. I feel incredibly lucky to have seen all of these beautiful marine animals whilst sailing in Puget Sound, except for (as of yet) humpback whales. The colours symbolize the harmony and synchronicity of nature, despite the predator and prey aspect of it all.
