Cedar Point Mill, Kansas Postcard
"Cedar Point Mill, Kansas" by Catherine Sherman. This beautiful relict mill from the 19th century still stands as a testament to the industry of Kansas settlers. The Drinkwater & Schriver Flour Mill, built in 1875, is on the Cottonwood River in Cedar Point, Kansas, in Chase County. The first structure at this site was a dam and sawmill built in 1867 by O.H. Drinkwater, who also gave the town its name. Eight years later, in partnership with Peter Paul Shriver, the sawmill and dam were replaced with the stone structures of the flour mill which continued in operation until 1937. The mill is on the National Register of Historic Places.
