Casapueblo Postcard

Casapueblo is the iconic 'habitable sculpture' created by Uruguayan artist Carlos Páez Vilaró. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, its sprawling white terraces and whimsical Mediterranean-inspired architecture mimic the mud nests of the local hornero birds, creating a surreal and organic silhouette against the cliffs. Originally built as a summer house and workshop, it now serves as a museum, art gallery, and hotel. It is most famous for its sunset ceremony, where a recording of the artist’s poetry plays as the sun dips below the horizon, bathing the white walls in golden and violet hues.
