Science teacher Keith Spenser was forced to use his own body to protect his students from the radiatio caused by an out-of-control experiment. He expected to die as a result, but learned that his body somehow absorbed the energy in a such a way that it made him stronger and healthier. Moreover, when he clapped his hands together, it caused a mini atomic explosion in his body that temporarily increased his powers to superhuman levels. Keith decided to use these powers to protect both the people of Atom City and the atomic research being done there. So he donned colourful costume and battled the forces of evil as Captain Flash!
