Plate 277 Hutchins's Barnacle Goose (Cackling Goose, Canada Goose, Branta hutchinsii) from The Birds of America by John James Audubon. This image was scanned at very high resolution directly from the original book, The Birds of America by naturalist and painter John James Audubon (published in sections between 1827 and 1838 as a series). It has then been edited, cropped, sharpened and enhanced as needed for large scale format and use. While some of the original flaws form the old print will remain, this is one of the best versions of this artworks available. All 435 hand colored life-size watercolors in the original portfolio, reproduced from hand-engraved plates, are available.
