I rushed to Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains Nationall Park one morning when the weather prediction was calling for heavy snow. This is the time when the authorities were saying for everyone to stay home because things were going to turn bad in a hurry. Being the reasonable person I am I loaded up the Subaru with camera and cold weather gear and made it just as the storm was making its way into the cove. The road was closed behind me and it was just me, the cove and the snowstorm, it was beautiful. I took this picture of a lone hibernating maple tree looking as if it was celebrating the snowfall.
