This paleontology mug features the logo for the regrettably fictional Burgess Shale Pale Ale. This green beer logo features a cartoon silhouette of a Marella fossil (one of the odd creatures of the Cambrian Burgess Shale fauna), above the words Burgess Shale Pale Ale. The design also features a few stalks of barley, the phrase "Estd. 505 Ma," referring to the 505 million year age of the Burgess Shale, and the selling phrase "Exceptional Preservation," referring to the fantastic soft-bodied fossils found in the shale. I was originally happy about my purchase and Nana loved the gift. HOWEVER, the description specifically says that these are microwave and dishwasher safe, BUT the first time Nana put this mug in the dishwasher it was destroyed. Not impressed..
