Watanabe Moritsuna was better known as 'Yari no Hanzo'. In 1562, he served as the rearguard in the Battle of Yahagi in Mikawa Province, and is said to have saved the lives of dozens of allies with a single spear. He was always close to Ieyasu, and there is an anecdote that an enemy scout reported to his lord that Ieyasu's arrival at Okayama was certain upon seeing Hanzo's golden pail sash, which became a sign of Ieyasu's presence. The 'pail' was also used as a family crest in the early days (according to 'Daimyo-ka no Kamon' by Kenichi Takahashi). This design was created based on the same book (May 10, 2015). Other family crests include 'Mitsuboshi Ichimonji', 'Watanabe Ogi', and 'Yugao ni Tsuki'.
