Some background information on this tartan from the Scottish Tartan Register: "In their 1850 book 'The Clan and Family Tartans of Scotland' W and A Smith of Mauchline wrote: The pattern here given seems to be universally considered the genuine Buchanan Tartan and we know that it is worn by Archibald Buchanan Esq, of Catrinebank, Ayrshire, whose father's name is identified with one of the first cotton manufactories established in Scotland with Arkwright's improvements.'"

I'm not sure how much moisture these will soak up, haven't had a chance to try them out, but they look good and I like the cork backing. The printing is fine ~ and really looks cool with an artisan's hand made "Hurricane Martini" glass sitting on top of my painting (on the coaster) in my studio.
