About This Design
Brooklyn Bridge (New York City) (by John Marin) Tile
This design features a watercolor painting by the American artist John Marin (1870–1953). It shows the Brooklyn Bridge, which is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. The bridge goes over the East River, and it is one of the leading landmarks of New York City (NYC). The Brooklyn Bridge connects the two boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The bridge was constructed from 1869 to 1883, and, at the time, it was the tallest structure in North America. The Brooklyn Bridge has been designated a National Historic Landmark since 1964. The original painting of the bridge by John Marin was completed in 1912. Boats can be seen sailing on the river and a cityscape of skyscrapers can be seen in the background.
