Bronzino Eleanor of Toledo and Her Son Postcard
Eleonora di Toledo with her son Giovanni, Agnolo Bronzino. Oil on panel, 115 cm × 96 cm. Uffizi Gallery, Florence
Agnolo di Cosimo (November 17, 1503 - November 23, 1572), usually known as Il Bronzino, or Agnolo Bronzino was an Italian Mannerist painter in Florence. His sobriquet, Bronzino, probably refers to his auburn hair.
Eleanor of Toledo, Italian: Eleonora di Toledo (1522 - 17 December 1562), born Doña Leonor Álvarez de Toledo y Osorio, was a Spanish noblewoman who was Duchess of Florence from 1539. She is credited with being the first modern first lady, or consort. She served as regent of Florence during the absence of her husband, Cosimo I de' Medici.
