Brig. General Winfield Hancock Poster

This is a colorized photograph from a vintage black and white portrait of Winfield S. Hancock. It also appears in "The Generals at Fredericksburg" calendar available at Zazzle. Hancock served in the Union Army and was quickly promoted to brigadier general early in the civil war. He fought in multiple battles including the Battles of Williamsburg, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and Gettysburg. Until the end of the war General Hancock suffered from the effects of wounds received in Antietam and Gettysburg. In 1866 he was promoted to major general. He died in 1886 at the age of 61.
