It is the gateway to the Calmont, the steepest vineyard in Europe, where grapes are still harvested by hand on nearly vertical slopes. The village itself is a quiet collection of white-walled houses and slate roofs, surrounded by a sea of green vines. The loop of the river provides a spectacular natural frame for the town, creating a sense of isolation and agrarian beauty.
