Bodrum Amphitheatre Turkey Postcard

The Bodrum Amphitheatre, or Ancient Theatre of Halicarnassus, is a well-preserved Classical Greek theatre overlooking Bodrum, Turkey. Carved directly into the hillside of Göktepe, it dates back to the 4th century BC, during the reign of King Mausolus. With a seating capacity once estimated at around 13,000, the theatre features rows of seats cut from the rock, a circular orchestra, and a stage building that has partially collapsed. From its vantage point, the amphitheatre offers spectacular panoramic views of Bodrum town, the harbour, Bodrum Castle, and the sparkling Aegean Sea. This ancient structure is not just a historical monument but remains a vibrant venue for cultural events and concerts, connecting contemporary life with the region's rich artistic heritage.
