Blue Green Music Postcard

This is a reproduction of “Blue Green Music”of 1921 by Georgia O’Keefe. This prolific American artist was thirty-three years old when she created this masterpiece which was a continuation of her efforts to create a transmutation of music into visual expression. This work displays the rhythm, movement, colour, depth and form characteristic of music and the emotional response that it elicits. She gave the work to the Art Institue of Chicago as a part of the Alfred Stieglitz collection in honour of her deceased husband. This “moher of American modernism” had been recognized for five years at the time of this work. This was only the beginning of her storied career in New York, Hawaii and New Mexico. She survived her husband by forty years, dying in Santa Fe in 1986 at the age of ninety-eight years.
