Black Hawk clipper sailing 1900 Postcard

Black Hawk clipper card 1900 Sutton & Co. was a clipper ship line that sailed between New York and San Francisco. The line included the clipper ships Cremorne and Orpheus which sailed for Sutton & Co.'s Dispatch Line and Coleman's California Line. The period of clipper ships lasted from the early 1840s to the early 1890s. At the 'crest of the clipper wave' year of 1852, there were 200 clippers rounding Cape Horn. Up to 400 clipper ships were built, between 1840s to the early 1890 The only intact survivor is Cutty Sark, which was preserved as a museum ship in 1954 at Greenwich.
