Binder - Fishing Bobs & Lures

"Give a man a fish; feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish; feed him for a lifetime." Most folks have heard this bit of advice from the 4th to 6th century Chinese founder of Taoism, Lao Tzu. The origin on that titbit makes even more sense when you consider that as early as 2,000 B.C., anglers in China and Egypt were using fishing rods, although most were still using handlines. It is also believed that ancient Chinese fishermen are thought to be the first to make fishing line. Those first lines were made, of course, of spun silk -- a far cry from today's monofilaments. The fishing bob or bobber or float is much more recent, with most records dating it back to only the 1800's.
