Beltaine - May Festival of Growth Postcard

This is your Beltaine postcard. It´s meant to celebrate the Celtic festival honouring the spring equinox and the start of Nature´s growth. This May festivity is also known as Beltane or Là Bealltainn and also comes in other other Gaelic word versions. It is a festival celebrating love, as the spring is the time of livestock mating and seeds stirring, both very important to Celtic agricultural societies of old. In (neo-)pagan rituals, the male aspect is often portrayed as a stag. Also seen in the forest-god Cernunnos, the god of growth, animals and plants, the Horned God, having a symbolical place within the turning wheel of Nature´s Seasons.
