Beautiful white doves rose CC1262 Boucher Birthday Postcard

Postcard inspired by a lovely painting by French Rococo artist François Boucher. The whole painting, titled Venus on the waves (1769), is wonderful, but it was the two white doves that really kindled my imagination. The way Boucher depicted them, especially the brushstrokes that seem both loose and precise at the same time (also true for the whole painting). What a master! But even more I was struck by the festive mood of this detail. The white doves seemed to be circling, or perhaps spiralling, upwards in the sky, reaching higher and higher all the time. The birds seem so joyful in their flight, and they're actually carrying roses! Yes, I thought, this could become a really nice birthday card. The doves could, for example, be carrier pigeons, carrying flowers and lots of good cheer to friends or relatives on their special days. Happy happy Birthday!
