This late 19th century US Military History artwork features the Battle of the Monitor and Merrimac, which took place at Hampton Roads and lasted over two days. Also referred to as the Battle of Hampton Roads, or the Battle of Ironclads, the duel was the first of its kind between iron-clad warships and is regarded as being one of the landmark naval battles fought during the American Civil War.
