This 19th century US Military history print features the USS Monitor engaged in a fierce gun battle with the Merrimac. The USS Monitor, which was an ironclad warship powered by steam, eventually won the duel, and the Merrimac, which was a steam frigate, had to be towed away owing to having been totally disabled.
