Bass Rock Scotland Postcard
Bass Rock is a dramatic volcanic island rising steeply from the waters of the North Sea off the coast of East Lothian. Formed from ancient volcanic activity, it stands as a striking white monolith dominated by its steep cliffs and rugged basalt structure.
The island is world-famous for its enormous colony of northern gannets, which coat the rock in a shifting living layer of white and gold. From the nearby shore at North Berwick, it appears both remote and monumental, often shrouded in sea mist or glowing in bright coastal sunlight.
