Banyan trees are considered sacred in Hinduism, a symbol of eternal life. It is believed that Buddha achieved enlightenment while sitting under a banyan tree. The original photograph by MaeFlowers on this 6” Ceramic Tile was taken on Banyan Street in Boca Grande, Florida. The photo shows the intricate growth at the base of a banyan tree, in soft shades of browns and greys. The shapes start to look like creatures believed, in Philippine Mythology, to inhabit these trees.
