Banyan Tree Edison & Ford Estate Ft Myers Florida Postcard
This Postcard features a statue of Thomas Alva Edison standing amidst a humongous Banyan tree on the grounds of the Edison & Ford Winter Estate and Museum. The first Banyan tree in America was planted in 1925 by Thomas Edison here at his winter home in Fort Myers, Florida. It was a small four-foot Ficus Benghalenis when it was given to him and has grown to be the largest in the continental United States (and 3rd largest in the world), growing to an acre in diameter. It is a must-see Florida attraction! The back of the Postcard has a brief description of the historical image, but may be edited or deleted for personalization. Photography by Glenda Motsavage, a Florida-based travel writer and author.
