Banyan trees are considered sacred in Hinduism, a symbol of eternal life. It is believed that Buddha achieved enlightenment while sitting under a banyan tree. The original photograph on this Greeting Card shows the intricate growth at the base of a banyan tree, in soft shades of browns and greys. The shapes start to look like creatures believed, in Philippine Mythology, to inhabit these trees.
