This photograph was taken at dusk of a bamboo footbridge at the bank of the Ganges in Nadia District, West Bengal, India. The Ganges (Ganga) is a sacred river in Northern and Eastern India and holds a prominent place in Hindu mythology. The goddess Mother Ganga descended to this world from the heavenly realm by resting in the matted locks of Lord Shiva (Siva) and then coming to the earthly plane to purify and wash away sins and evil.
