Bald Eagle Perched on a Mooring Line, Dutch Harbou Postcard

Bald eagles have a special relationship with the fishing vessels that come into the port of Dutch Harbour, Alaska. The fishing boats often have trash fish to throw away and the eagles get the castoffs. Sometimes boats break a pallet of fish or surimi and it gets left on the dock while the catch is being transferred. The eagles make a feast of such windfalls. This eagle perched on the mooring line of the bow of the Patricia Lee. The Patricia Lee has an eagle's head with American flags on either side for a bow emblem.
