Badlands National Park, South Dakota Jigsaw Puzzle

The grandeur of the badlands of South Dakota is on display in this scenic photograph. The clear blue sky and the green grasslands of the mixed-grass prairie adds colour to the spectacular view of this rocky outcropping. The parallel striations or ridges of the eroding buttes create layers of subtle colour changes in the rock strata. The reds, tans, browns and grey colours paint the rocks as the spire or pinnacle reaches toward the sky.
