“Gus' Jokers” on Samar Island in the Philippines. On August 26, 1945, the Evans crew was taxiing out for take off when the nose wheel collapsed. The damage was bad enough for this plane to never fly again. This B-24M (serial #44-41848) belonged to the 5th Bomb Group, 31st Bomb Squadron.
