Exhibitions and museums, huts and mountain lodges, visitor centers and information points bring the diverse mountain world with its fauna and flora to the center of the Hohe Tauern National Park. The mountain road blends harmoniously into the landscape, provides a unique mountain experience - and for more than 80 years it has provided unparalleled driving pleasure on 48 kilometers. Every kilometer and every single one of the 36 sweets of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road is a delight! The declared goal of all visitors is the Kaiser Franz-Josefs-Heights. From here you can see the highest mountain in Austria, with its 3,798 meters above sea level, which overlooks the largest glacier in the eastern Alps, the pastor, which is nine kilometers long. The snow-covered Johannisberg rounds off the mountain panorama. The hiking trail into the Gamsgrube, right in the middle of the Special Protection Area of the Hohe Tauern National Park, offers unique views and the observation of rare alpine animals such as the majestic stone arches.
