The Polk County Tax Collector’s office in Lakeland is housed in an Art Deco building, a style known for its bold geometric shapes, symmetry, and decorative motifs. Originally constructed in 1940 for the Gulf Oil Corporation the building later served as a Publix grocery store from 1953 to 1964. Over the years, it hosted various businesses, including a car dealership, before being renovated and preserved for its current use, maintaining its distinctive Art Deco architecture.
