Arabians are the oldest known, pure breed of horse in the world, dating back thousands of years. The Bedouin tribes of the desert passed the pedigrees of their horses down through many generations, reciting them by memory. Their mares were their most prized possessions, and often shared their tents in bad weather. Arabians are extremely intelligent, sensitive, and beautiful. They have great speed and agility, and have been used around the world to improve many other breeds. For instance, The Thoroughbred, known for racing in America and England, was founded entirely on three arabian family lines. Other breeds bearing significant Arabian influence include Andalusians, Lippizzaners, Morgans, Trakehners, Saddlebreds, and many more.
