AQUAMARINE MUSCOVITE POSTER

Aquamarine on Muscovite, "Blue Mine, Shigar Valley, Skardu, Pakistan, 5 3/4" tall. This Aqua is totally unique. It is the most vivid blue I know of from Pakistan - the crystal has an iridescence that I have only seen from one other locality, Jos, Nigeria. The mine it is from has informally been named the "Blue Mine" (it is obvious why!). The Aqua crystal is completely clear, gem, glassy, facet quality and double terminated. What really makes this piece unique is the strange and beautiful purple stripe at the tip of each termination. You can read more about this mine in the book, "Ikons" (by Wayne Thompson), page 88. Wayne tells the history of this short lived deposit, finding only one pocket with Aquamarines, and only 3 matrix specimens, this one being one of them.
