Colorized photo from 1904 Original Title: The goat carriages, Coney Island, New York, NY Location: Coney Island, end of West 10th St, NY Coney Island was and still is (more or less), a theme park. They had rides, and unusual attractions. The stranger the attraction the more interesting it was to visit there. Today they are exhibiting their goat rides. Children would board these little carriages and the goats would then pull them around. People living on farms, this wasn't so unusual, but for kids living in the city, this was a certain treat. Goats aren't exactly rare, but are usually seen in zoo's or on a farm, not a city street. At the very least it was something to talk about when they got home.
