Ancient Dartmoor Settlement postcard

English Scenes series A gorgeous scene, quite typical of the higher points of Dartmoor. An ancient settlement / building on Dartmoor, probably from times when the climate was a lot milder - Dartmoor today is a wild moor, rent by wind and rain for most of the year. Occasionally, like here, a beautiful summer's day chases away memories of the inclement times and the last golden rays of the setting summer sun cast deep shadows over the landscape. Each bump is a stone or small pile from the building / settlement, covered over by the slow-growing mossy grass that blankets the ground in these upper reaches of Dartmoor. image code: hrcol73
