Altar Boys After Hours Playing Croquet ~ By Paul Charles Chocarne-Moreau. Paul Charles Chocarne-Moreau was born in Dijon in 1855, died in Neuilly-sur-Seine in 1931. He was a French painter, naturalist and illustrator who specializes in genre paintings that show scenes of Parisian life whose heroes are usually young boys from poor backgrounds (young apprentice bakers, sweeps, altar boys, school children) engaged in all sorts of pranks. Witness of his time, he painted works such as "On The Barricade" he exhibited at the Salon of 1909. We saw him as a precursor of Norman Rockwell .
