This postcard features the fortified Royal Palace of La Almudaina overlooking Palma de Mallorca’s historic waterfront. The present royal castle was built from 1305 to 1314 for James II of Mallorca on a site that still preserves traces of an earlier Arab citadel. It served the medieval court of the kings of Mallorca and remains an official royal residence, linking the island’s Islamic, medieval Christian and modern institutional history.
