This beautiful bride Alice Marion McPherrin Swigert married Russell L. Swigert of Knox County in 1917.
They met at the Knox County Fair where he saw her riding on a Merry-Go-Round then
flirted with her as she went around. Then asked her if she would like to go around
with him. They dated by horse and buggy. The horse knew the way home so grandpa
could use both his arms around grandma. They lived on his family farm in Knox County
near Galesburg and Knoxville.
Her hair was a beautiful dark red.
